Well, I did it. I finished my first race since the sixth grade "Turkey Trot" with flying colors! This was the Anthem 5K (3.1 miles) and the first leg of the Triple Crown and I ran it in under 10 minute miles. Please excuse this absolutely hideous photo of myself... it was early, no makeup, I only had 2 cups of coffee, ran over 3 miles and it was so cold! Next up... the Rhodes City Run (6 miles) and then the Papa John's 10 miler. I'll be following it up with the grad finale... the Louisville Mini Marathon to kick off Derby week.
The race this morning was very fun and energetic. I was a little nervous, but when I think back, it was more like excitement! My brother, Nate, and SIL, Lara ran too. We had a ball and my brother was talking and acting like a complete clown the whole run. He had all the people around us laughing or giving him a funny look. One guy thought he was doing bird calls! He was saying, "Lou-Lou!" in a high pitch voice... Lou Lou is my nickname.
Here we are after the race, and after running back to the car because it was so darn cold! My SIL has the best legs... they are so skinny, and ends with dainty ankles! You did awesome Luna!!! Thanks to Nate for running slow with us and keeping the two of us going and laughing the entire time! Run Happy!
