JB- Sugar Plums!

Today, I am the Guest Designer over at Jingle Belles! I came across this inspiration board on the Paper Doll Romance blog and it was titled "Visions of Sugar Plums." I thought it would be a great prompt for a holiday card! It reminds me of the Nutcracker, and all that purple, glittery goodness reminds me of how sweet the holidays actually are!This is the card I came up with: I was inspired by the bottom right corner of the photo. I loved the garland and the ballet shoes, and how soft it all looked. So, I pulled out some sugar plum colors, coarse glitter, white ink and some scissors and went to town!

As I was crafting, 2 of my 3 shadows were close. So close, they wanted to make a skate card too. Ugh... I agreed and then they went to town with glitter, the Cuttlebug, ink and rhinestones. I love that they want to create, but they get everything out and make a huge mess. I still have coarse glitter on my desk... 3 days later!

Here is Anna's card. She is 6 and I believe she is adopting my "clean and simple" style. But the girl does love glitter, and more is, well, more! Her favorite tools- stamps and markers!

Here is Elan's card. He is 4. Anna was a bit perturbed that he kind of "copied" off of her card, but actually, he copied my card. How about those orange socks? He's quite the stamper! His favorite tools- the Cuttlebug and Glue Dots.I hope you will join the Jingle Belles blog this week and make a Sugar Plum card! With all this purplicious inspiration, I don't see how you could pass up the challenge! ;)

I'm so Sketchy...

Hello there... I am trying again for a second chance for the Sketchy Thursdays guest designer for September. I liked the sketch I had to use, and this time, no rules! Not to mention the wonderfully generous prize I'm playing for! So, here's the sketch:

I'm not much of a "circle" scrapper, so I improvised and made it a square. Anyway, my take:

I really like the color scheme and the way the finished page turned out. I pulled out my paint and stamped the harlequin background, used some rub-ons, covered that little chipboard house and the best part...

The cute kraft string and button envelope that hugs the letter I wrote about him. The letter tells my dads story and how our relationship has grown into a strong bond. Someday, I will give it to him, but for now... it's just for me. ;)

Sketchy Thursdays GDT Challenge

Sketchy Thursdays is having their challenge for the next Guest Designer for August. I loved the sketch, and let's face it, I'd love to be a guest designer for them too! ;) So, I gave it a whirl...

My bird and the little felt flower are handmade by me:I love these pictures I used. I almost threw them away because they are a bit dark, but Elan was having so much fun on the beach at dusk searching around and looking at washed up things. I captured a moment I didn't want to forget. So glad I scrapped them!

For the love of Cosmo!

Hello! Happy summer... I'm thrilled to be a guest designer today at Die Cuts R Us! The line I chose to work with for my projects was Joyride by Cosmo Cricket. I don't know many people who don't LOVE Cosmo Cricket! Their papers and chipboard are happy and fun and I can always use the collections in a project. The Joyride line is super great for vacations, road trips, days filled with fun and guy themed projects... like Father's Day... wink, wink! So, enough blabbering and on with the good stuff!


This is a layout I made... it's pretty silly, but a very funny, good memory for me. And hey, isn't that what scrappin' is all about? We were making the long 12 hour drive back from the beach and my mom took these pictures. She thought I was driving too fast and put on Anna's bicycle helmet. We laughed until we were crying!



Next up, a Father's Day card for my dear, old Dad. I told you this is a great collection for guy themed projects! :) I used some ancient foam stamps to ink "dad" and used the same mist as above.
TIP: rather than spraying your mist, unscrew the cap and tap the ink off the tube. That way, you get a more concentrated inked area.


Lastly, an easy "Hi" card that you could whip out in 10 minutes to send to an old friend. The inside message is "It's been too long..." A sentiment stamp from Papertrey Ink.

See?! I told you the Joyride Collection was awesome! It's so versatile and fun! I hope these projects inspire you to make something crafty today!

I'm beach bound today! My whole family is making the trip to Hilton Head, SC for a week. We go this time every year and we absolutely love it! So, this is probably my last post for the week. Have a good one!

This is a card for my hubby- not sure if I'll give it to him for Valentine's Day or for our anniversary in April. He is a big fisherman, so this will fit him perfectly!

Love is in the air!

It's time for another Caardvarks challenge! This one was easy:

HEARTS

Supplies: White, pink and raspberry cardstock. Patterned Paper: TPC Woodland Whimsy. Heart stamps: Hero Arts, "Love is in the air" stamp: Claudia Rose. Border punch and corner rounder: Fiskars. Other: foam tape.

Valentines Day is coming fast, so all the cards I have been making lately have hearts, or are the same color scheme: pink, red, light blue. Hope you enjoy!
